Joseph Guillou
Born in Paris
in the year 1787 Guillou studied there under Devienne and Wunderlich at the
conservatoire where later he became professor(1819-1829)
counting Dorus among his pupils.
He played at the Opera and
formed a wind quintet before undertaking a tour of Europe
in 1829 and settling in St. Petersburg
two years later. There he was appointed first flute in the Imperial Theatre
Orchestra, taught at the Theatre
School, composed for his
instrument and became publisher of the magazine, L’artist
Russe
