Recital of 12 songs and 1 guitar solo

composed and performed by David W Solomons

at St Michael's Cornhill, London,

recorded on camcorder by Derek Matthews in 1984

The songs are:

1)  April (translation by S N Solomons after Remi Belleau)

2)  To Cassandra (translation by S N Solomons after Pierre de Ronsard)

3)  An Exmas Carol (poem by me, with guitar part reflecting the tune to O Little town of Bethlehem)

4)  Baïlèro (my arrangement of the Canteloube version)

5)  Ludhe sing tishoo (The hayfever song) (poem by me)

6)  As shines the Rosebud (translation by S N Solomons after Pierre de Ronsard)

7)  L'inconscient (poem by Paul Maertens, with my translation shown in brackets)

8)  Wrong side of the door (my translation of a poem by Paul Maertens)

9)  The legend of the knight in the woods (poem by me)

10) The Willow Song (arranged by me)

11) Early Evening in Camden Town (poem by Sandra Erös)

12) Rossignol du bois sauvage (traditional French folksong arranged by me)

13) Soliloquy (guitar solo)

(Technical notes:

I have attempted to improve the sound in various ways,

including noise removal using Audacity

(which worked but resulted in a strange guitar sound)

but this version, using soundforge seems

the best compromise, there is still a little rumble and whine

but I hope this can be forgiven.

The visual part of the camcorder original

has been improved using Videomizer).

The costume was designed for use in Elizabethan Singers concerts

(I was a member during that period, and it seemed appropriate to don it

since the words of many of the songs are of Renaissance origin).
