Born in 1966, Julie Sassoon received a classical training on piano, violin and flute.
She graduated in Music and Visual Art at Lancaster University in 1988, winning the
University music prize for her performances.
In 1995, she completed the postgraduate diploma at Leeds College of Music,
studying jazz piano and Indian violin.
Julie has composed and performed for theatre companies, jazz groups and most recently
with her own saxophone and piano duo,
"Fire Horse".
She teaches piano and works as a session musician and arranger for mainly
jazz-rock/pop bands.
She is currently working on music for a film.
Julie's musical style is "impressionistic, tonal and exuberant, a crossover between
the formal structures and harmonies of Western concert music
with jazz and other popular music".
