John R. Williamson has a unique style of composition which he describes as 'palindromic.' His music is also in an English tradition and uses a modal language.

His piano music has been performed at the British Music Information Centre; the Royal Northern College of Music; Chetham's Music School, Manchester; Chester; Rhyl and other N. Wales music clubs.
His work has been recorded by Nigel Shaw, baritone and John McCabe, piano. Also by Murray McLachlan (piano); Ronald Frost (organ) and John Scott Trio. Three Songs are also recorded on the Campion Label with Mark Rowlinson (baritone) and Peter Lawson (piano). 2004
