WILLIAM BARLOW

 

 

 

                                                                       

William Barlow (1899-1983) studied flute with W. Thorn and before 1939 played the winter season at Hastings with Vernon Harris. During the summer seasons he played in the Isle of Man, Whitby, Bexhill and Llandudno.

 

He was appointed principal flute of the Scottish Orchestra (1944-1945) and then played second flute and piccolo in the Hallé Orchestra (1945-1955). On leaving the Hallé he turned to teaching until he was 80.
